Hotel Boutique Triana House

📍Seville

For our Neighbourhood Stays series we uncover hotels and boutique boltholes that ooze style and personality whilst celebrating local. In this instalment we visit an interiors haven in Seville…

Neighbourhood: The city’s Triana quarter is less explored and feels all the more sumptuous and authentic for it. With a strong Flamenco tradition, Gypsy roots and a wealth of pottery workshops, this cultural hub is full of surprises. Hotel Boutique Triana House feels like one of those discoveries.

What to expect: An immaculately curated guesthouse filled with luxuries of every kind. Each of the seven rooms has a personality of its own.

Community and ambience: This intimate environment sits prettily amongst its vibrant community. We would recommend doing a coffee crawl amongst the low-key spots that line Triana’s squares. Seeing the Flamenco dancers prop up the bar mid rehearsal will act as a happy reminder of just where you are.

Design details: Spanish interior designer Amaro Sánchez de Moya has created a love letter to Andalusia in this fabulous celebration of maximalism. Think olive-tree wallpaper, deep velvets, embossed gold and green leather walls with Alhambra-style azulejo tiles. Not forgetting the most delectable headboards you will ever lay eyes on.

Paintings by Gustavo Bacarisas, Mariano Bertuchi and José García Ramos from the owners' personal collection are dotted throughout. Italian marble and sculptures are coupled with locally made ceramics from Triana and the Cartuja de Pickman, alongside handcrafted jugs and pitchers by neighbouring artisans.

The courtyard is filled with terracotta statues, coral paintwork and more exquisite tiles. All against the backdrop of art deco and 1930s architecture.

On the menu: Whilst there may not a restaurant, there is a sun-filled rooftop and the room-served breakfast is wonderfully indulgent. Thoughtfully displayed, the artisanal breads, freshly squeezed juice and cakes from the bakery down the road will set you up for the day. There is also a complimentary mini bar in the room.

Local experiences: Just around the corner from the hotel is the ultra charming Teatro Flamenco Triana. A must-visit for one of the most impressive flamenco shows you will find in the very neighbourhood that it blossomed.

Rates: Rooms start from around €190 per night, trianahouse.com.
